Laroona Eau de Cologne bottle from Melbourne, Australia. This company operated from Burnley an old inner Melbourne riverside suburb. I believe that this bottle would date from around 1900. It is quite large at 18cm and the stopper which is a perfect fit, and I'm sure the original, seems out of proportion to the bottle. There are very few early perfume manufacturers in Australia so I am pleased to have this bottle in my collection.
The company was certainly in existence in 1922 where it was listed in the Sands and McDougall Directory of that year. The address given was Burnley Street, Burnley and the notice made mention that it was - on the riverbank. I have listed a Laroona Soap box also.
